Florence (Italy)

Hello guys !

In this article, I will talk a bit about Florence! 😍

So, this is my second time in Florence! In just a day I’ve been able to see a great part of the city! So fascinating, with lots of impressions…

Florence, the capital of Tuscany, is a city filled with art, history, and culture. It’s a place where you can wander through grand museums, marvel at Renaissance masterpieces, and get lost in the charming streets of the old town.

If you’re planning a trip to Florence,

here are some of the must-see sights that you should add to your itinerary:

  • Piazza del Duomo: This is the heart of Florence and home to some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including the Duomo, the Baptistery of St. John, and Giotto’s Bell Tower. The Duomo, with its massive Brunelleschi dome, is a must-see for any visitor to Florence. Take the time to climb to the top of the dome for breathtaking views of the city.
  • Piazza della Signoria: This lively square is home to Palazzo Vecchio, the city hall of Florence, and the Loggia dei Lanzi, an open-air sculpture gallery. Be sure to see the Fountain of Neptune and the equestrian statue of Cosimo I de’ Medici.
  • Loggia dei Lanzi: This open-air sculpture gallery is located in Piazza della Signoria. It houses a collection of Renaissance sculptures by some of the most famous artists of the period, including Donatello and Michelangelo.
  • Gallerie degli Uffizi: This world-famous art gallery houses a vast collection of Renaissance paintings, including works by Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, and Raphael. Be sure to see Primavera and The Birth of Venus by Botticelli.
  • Ponte Vecchio: This medieval bridge is lined with jewelry shops and is a popular spot for tourists. Be sure to stroll across the bridge and take in the views of the Arno River.
  • Palazzo Pitti: This grand palace was once the home of the Medici family. Today, it houses several museums, including the Palatine Gallery, the Silver Museum, and the Costume Gallery.
  • Giardino di Boboli: This sprawling garden is located behind Palazzo Pitti. It is a great place to relax and enjoy the fresh air. Be sure to see the Amphitheatre, the Egyptian obelisk, and the Artichoke Fountain.

Tips for visiting Florence:

  • Purchase a Firenze Card: This card gives you free admission to many of Florence’s top attractions, as well as unlimited use of public transportation.
  • Book your tickets in advance: Especially during peak season, it’s a good idea to book your tickets to popular attractions in advance to avoid long lines.
  • Be prepared for crowds: Florence is a popular tourist destination, so be prepared for crowds, especially during the summer months.
  • Wear comfortable shoes: You’ll be doing a lot of walking, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes.
  • Learn a few basic Italian phrases: A little Italian will go a long way in Florence 🙂
