Hello guys 😊and welcome back to feeling good with Sofy 🥰!
Trigger warning: If you struggle with your own mental health and feel too heavy to read this article, feel free to stop right here. Remember that, this is a safe space, I share my own stories and tools that are helping me along the way❤️.
This article is called Hope is Never Lost for a reason. I’ve been struggling for years with my own mental health and the path to my well being has not and STILL IS NOT EASY at all, for me BUT in a way or another I always try to find a way out of a difficult situation, thankfully also with the help of my therapist❤️, medication, closest family members… ❤️❤️.
Apart from the help of others, and I say thank you, thank you for being there for me❤️, I’ve been realising over the years how much strength I have been having within me since a very young age and still have. To all the times that I’ve been crying to sleep, that I wanted to seriously give up, I haven’t. Unfortunately as I altready mentioned before I still have these dark moments but I try my best not to give up, and keep going, and even if I am taking a baby step, it is always a success, a win.
I am learning through time to remind myself that each time I fall, I get back up and get back on track (even if it takes days, it depends on how bad I feel). THAT’S STRENGTH, COURAGE. STRENGTH IS WITHIN ME❤️.
I want you to take a deep breath in and a deep breath out.
When I find myself being really sad, hopeless, it’s really hard to keep going on (do you also agree?❤️).
HERE IS WHAT I DO:
STEP 1: THE BREATH. what I need to remind myself moreoften is to focus on my breath, first thing first. It’s really easy for me in moments of pain to panic, cry, not think clearly and so not breathing correctly. THE BREATH IS CRUCIAL for calming yourself, your nervous system…I could do a meditation, the square breathing technique…
STEP 2: SELF-LOVING MANTRAS. Repeating self loving mantras while breathing such as I am a warrior, I am love or I am kind to myself…❤️, can really boost your self-esteem even if you do not notice that so much at the beginning.
If I am still upset and find myself on the floor (for ex.) I’ll take an anxiolytic. If you also have these hard moments, I would recommend to take something BUT I do not know your situation and I am no doctor so if you feel very low, upset discuss it with your own therapist, psychiatrist!
I have already written an article about THE POWER OF MINDFULNESS AND MEDITATION, HERE IS THE LINK: https://www.indiansavage.com/the-power-of-mindfulness-and-meditation/ and i will do others…(this article, hope is never lost is also connected to mindfulness ❤️.)
STEP 3: MINDFULNESS. Another thing that I do if I feel very low is focusing on the moment, no matter how hard the day is, becomes.
You see, MINDFULNESS IS ONE OF THE KEYS OF MY RECOVERY JOURNEY, a mindful journey which I have to remind myself still.
I’ll take one hour, one minute at the time, if necessary. I am so grateful for the people who are there for me, reminding me to be present. In those situations I easily get negative, so trying my best to focus on the present moment but also reminding myself how far I have already come and NOT TAKING IT FOR GRANTED❤️. Thinking of a positive thought, it doesn’t have to be big, is also a big step forward.
STEP 4: treat yourself. In moments of sadness…it’s so easy to lay down on your bed and do nothing (at least that’s my case…), I know that feeling very well and I also know it’s not a good way to feel better. Try instead to do something that comforts you, remember it doesn’t have to be something big. I for ex. love to drink a calming cup of tea or apply a face mask! 🙂
STEP 5: hobby. Try to find yourself something that you enjoy doing, it could be painting, watching a serie or playing an instrument. I personally I love to watch Bridgerton 🙂 (I’m a Bridgerton fan🥰) or some fun movie such as Tycket to paradise (super recommended!) 😂😊.
In my next article we will dive deeper into the concept of MANTRAS, how they can be helpful, but remember there are many who use mantras to heal, to feel good…I’ll show you my way 😉.
See you soon,
Much love❤️❤️
Sofia Lena
