Hello! This time I’m taking you on a virtual tour around England! 😍🥰
I’ve been to England once (visiting just London), this time we did a longer trip, staying especially in the English countryside 💚 🙂 !
The first stop is Painshill Park 🙂 !
Introduction
Painshill Park is a true gem amongst the English landscape. This park is an 18th century landscape garden created by Charles Hamilton (the son of the Sixth Earl of Abercorn.)
This Park is a truly work of art: nature and art seamlessly blend to create an harmonious and picturesque landscape.
You will find yourself surrounded by stunning scenery, strolling around The Serpentine Lake. This picturesque lake is adorned with islands and bridges!
By the way :), Painshill Park was recently used as a filming location for the hit Netflix series Bridgerton 😍😍 :).
Here are some things to see at Painshill Park:
- The Five Arched Bridge
- The Woollett bridge
- The Crystal Grotto
- The Ruined Abbey
- The Gothic Temple
- The Temple of Bacchus
- The Five Arched Bridge. The Five-Arched Bridge is a true centerpiece, elevating both the beauty and functionality of the landscape. Beyond aesthetics, the bridge plays a crucial role in navigating Painshill Park as envisioned by its creator, Charles Hamilton. The bridge you see today isn’t the original one built in the mid-to-late 1760s. The original bridge was constructed in wood. Painshill Park underwent restorations, and the Five-Arched Bridge was accurately rebuilt in the late 1970s. The new bridge captures the essence of the original design, ensuring visitors can continue to experience Painshill Park as Hamilton intended.

- The Woollett bridge. This picturesque bridge serves as the gateway to one of the park’s most impressive features: the magical Crystal Grotto. This Bridge was also restored, it was completed in 2022. The bridge complements the park’s overall aesthetic, seamlessly blending with the natural surroundings.

- The Crystal Grotto: . I was so surprised and fascinated to see this in a park 🙂 So artistic and well conserved! This enchanting grotto is adorned with sparkling crystals, shells, stalactites, rocks. It offers a captivating glimpse into an underground world.

- The Ruined Abbey. Wow, this Abbey has also captured my interest, meaning I find it so artistic, you just stroll around in the park and suddenly you see this ruined building in the middle of a park! It was designed to be a ruin to add some history, so that the visitors can also be reminded of the past! It’s placed close to the shore, of the Serpentine Lake, creating stunning reflections on the water’s surface.

- The Gothic Temple. Perched atop a hill, this majestic temple offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The Gothic Temple is more than just a viewing platform; it is a symbol of resilience and a testament to the enduring beauty of Painshill Park. Its presence adds a touch of drama and grandeur to the landscape, making it an unforgettable highlight of any visit.

- The Temple of Bacchus. This Temple is a captivating structure dedicated to the Roman God of wine. It was built in 1762, the style is classic. Imagine lavish feasts and convivial gatherings taking place within its walls, after all he is the God of wine, revelry! I sat on a bench while admiring this beautiful view 🙂 !
