Hello guys 😊! In this blog post I’m going to share with you some Harry Potter video locations where I have been, during my trip in England! 🙂
A Harry Potter lover 🙂
I am a big fan of Harry Potter’s books, films 🙂 ! In my opinion J.K. Rowling is really, an amazing writer, role model 🙂 !
I’ve been watching Harry Potter since a young age…😍🥰
I am so grateful and happy that I had the opportunity to visit some of these filming locations! 🙂 😍😍
The first stop is the city of Oxford! 🙂
New College
Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire:
The filming team used the New College Cloisters and Courtyard to film parts of the fourth film of Harry Potter! The best known scene is when Draco Malfoy is turned into a ferret by Mad-Eye Moody! (See second photo right down below!)

The Old Bodleian Library
The Duke Humfrey’s Library, also known as The Old Library (part of The Old Bodleian Library) was used as one of the locations for the Hogwarts library and the Restricted Section scenes, in the Philosopher’s Stone where students are obliged to have a permit to consult books… it’s here where Harry goes in the middle of the night, hiding under his invisible cloak, during Christmas holiday, to search for information on Nicolas Flamel’s connection to the Philosopher’s Stone!

The next stop is in Gloucester!
Gloucester Cathedral

My family and I visited this fascinating Cathedral for some hours! For me it was so exciting, going also there, knowing that Harry and his friends ran also through these corridors!
This place was used to film:
- The Philosopher’s Stone
- The Chamber of Secrets
- The Half-Blood Prince
the Philospher’s Stone:
Harry and Ron run down the corridors (during Halloween festivities ) and try to warn Hermione from the risk to encounter professor Quirrell’s troll on her way back to the celebrations. Harry and ron hide, from the troll, in the Lavatorium. They watch as the troll goes in the girl’s bathroom, before they come to her help!
The Chamber of Secrects:
In the second film, Moaning Myrtle is wrongly blamed for flooding the girl’s bathroom on the second floor. instead it was Ginny Weasley who was trying to get rid of Tom Riddle’s diary.
the Half-Blood Prince:
The Lavatorium is later used to film the sixth film! Harry hides behind one of these pillars while listening to Malfoy and professor Snape talking about the Unbreakable Vow taken by Snape. (See third and fourth photo down below)

Last stop is the beautiful village of Lacock!

The first photo that I uploaded, is where Harry and professor Dumbledore come walking after having visited Professor Slughorn! (Sixth film).
The Homes of professor Slughorn, and of Harry Potter’s parents
- In the first photo you can see the home of Professor Slughorn! At the beginning of the sixth film, Professor Dumbledore and Harry go and visit him to convince him to come back to Hogwarts and teach. Dumbledore has his reasons 😉. Initially, when they arrive at the house, they don’t find him, he’s hiding from Death Eaters.
2. In the next one, the home of Harry’s parents, Lily and James Potter. The home where Harry was born. It’s here where Voldertmort killed Harry’s parents with the Avada Kedavra curse.

Lacock Abbey

At the end we have Lacock Abbey! This building was founded in 1232 by Ela, Countess of Salisbury. This abbey began as a nunnery.
Nowadays, Lacock abbey is owned by the National Trust!
Harry Potter has also been filmed at Lacock Abbey!
This abbey, has been used to film parts of Hogwarts in the first two films of Harry Potter!
- The Warming Room (see fifth picture above) has been used as the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom, in the Philosopher’s Stone.
- The Sacristy has been served as Professor’s Snape Potion Classroom, in the first film!
- The Lacock Chapter House: it’s here, where Professor Dumbledore explains to Harry how the Mirror of Erised works. (See sixth photo).
- (As for the Cloisters at Gloucester Cathedral), The Cloisters of Lacock Abbey are used as corridors inside Hogwarts, where Harry, for ex. runs from Filch after being in the Restricted Section (library), at night (first film).
- Harry finds Nearly Headless Nick petrified in hogwart’s corridors (Second film).
If you are a fan of Harry Potter and would like to share more info…just let me know in the comments 🙂 ! Moreover, I would really recommend you, (if it is possible for you to visit…) to explore these fascinating, magic ✨spaces! 🙂
See you! 😊
