I Am Light✨:)

Hey everyone 🙂 and welcome back to Feeling Good with Sofy! 🥰✨

In this blog post, I talk about some of my struggling times and finding lightness in moments, periods of discomfort, “darkness”❤️

Trigger warning: this article contains also some tough times during my life, so if you are struggling with your own personal issues, do not feel the need to read it, however, this feel good blog article contains also motivational tips and so on! So, it’s totally up to you! :)❤️❤️

Living periods of my life “in darkness”

  • I have not been feeling well in many periods of my life, especially when it came to school. I’ve been feeling lonely, with lots of sadness in me, in my heart, in several times during my school career, when “I could not see the light at the end of a very long tunnel”.

A difficult school period

  • At 15 years old, I would come back home after school, and then I would burst into tears, for being bullied, for not feeling “adequate” at school and etc. I felt, I wasn’t truly understood by no one and I had the thought of not being able anymore to move forward with my life.

After finishing school…

  • No more than two years ago, I fell again into a deep, severe depression, for a number of reasons. I started to see everything negatively. At a certain point, I didn’t want to see the light of the day, I would stay inside, all day, at home, telling also to my parents, that I hated the light coming through the windows. I would say that darkness was my only, true friend.

September 2023 and further on…

Finding inner strength, also especially through the help of mindfulness and psychotherapy, gave me the resilience to slowly “come out of a deep, black hole”.

Mindfulness, the core of my mental wellbeing

I started slowly, to live my life in a more mindful, meaningful, and healthier way, not taking for granted, what I was given everyday. I began meditating, drinking mindfully my tea, creating a morning routine… and with time I found back the joy of admiring a sunrise, of being in the light 🙂

Some tips along your journey:

  • Supportive Therapy: even though I found it really hard to talk to my therapist❤️❤️ when everything was dark in 2023, slowly with time, I noticed how important it was to get help from a professional. Therapy can be really helpful, if you are not feeling well.
  • Medication: medication can be really a life saver, if you are not feeling well at all. A combitation of medication and therapy can make you find back inner❤️balance. Remember that I am no doctor, discuss it with your psychiatrist, psychologist if you are not doing any better, after a certain period of time.
  • A Mindful life: learning to practice mindfulness everyday can be challenging if you are not used to, but with the help from a mindfulness coach, other professionals, or by reading or watching mindfulness things you can start to live in a more mindful way! 🙂
  • Affirmations: writing down on paper, positive, mindful, beautiful affirmations, mantras helped me also to feel better. I still do it and I find it very useful to gain inner harmony❤️peace of mind and so on. An example: I am light, lightness resides within me, the Universe needs my own light 🙂
