Hi everyone! Welcome back to Feeling Good With Sofy!❤️
In this motivational, feel good article, I’m going to discuss about being alive or just existing, a very important topic to meditate, talk about, I believe ❤️
Pay attention: this article contains difficult, challenging moments. If you are struggling with your own mental wellbeing or other personal issues, this blog post may be too hard for you to read. However, I share also motivational tips and tools along the way❤️❤️So, it’s totally up to you, and to no one else!!❤️
Introduction
Are you alive or just existing? I saw this question sentence a year ago, on the road, while being in the car, going for a short excursion in my neighbourhood. This sentence truly touched my heart because whoever wrote this I think, wrote it with porpuse, and it really made me think.
The phrase: ‘are you alive or just existing?’ holds a lot of meaning for me, as it is a question I’ve frequently asked myself throughout my life ❤️
My story❤️
Mental-health has been a significant challenge for me. I’ve experienced depression and anxiety from a very young age and i still navigate these issues.
Even though I grew up in a loving family, there were many times when I didn’t feel okay at all.
I struggled a lot with school and friends, I hated socializing and this feeling intensified over time. I felt different from everyone else, I felt inadequate. I didn’t feel that anyone had truly understood me (in the past).
Struggling to find purpose in life
Essentially, throughout my high-school years, and later on, I felt like I was just surviving, not truly living. I rarely truly smiled and I cried and panicked a lot. I’ve faced a lot difficulties in school, and one of the hardest was being constantly bullied, in high-school. Later on, I suffered for being too scared of what would come next, to move on, for making new acquaintances and friends.
As I faced struggle after struggle, I began with time to question my own life, whether it was worthy living or not. It was as if I did not find meanings to stay on this earth.
I didn’t feel I had something to give to the world. At a certain point, I felt completly empty inside.
My dream of becoming a model (at the age of 16) motivated me to keep fighting, and then further on it was mindfulness and living in the moment that kept me going❤️
Hope is within me, no matter what❤️
Despite the many challenges I am facing, I am learning through time, also with the help of professional, that hope lives within me, it’s never lost, even if sometimes I understand it’s hard to believe.
For many of us, feeling truly happy and alive can be a true, long, difficult life journey, that’s why it’s so important also to receive help along the way.
If you struggle, please do not hesitate to ask for help❤️

Mindfulness practice
Practicing daily mindfulness, allows me to be grounded and present with my own self. It allows me to accept, learn and keep growing and evolving. There are of course days, sometimes weeks, when it’s hard to stay positive, and mindful, but that is part of the journey I tell myself❤️ and with each setback I emerge even stronger❤️
I find it helpful to think of my healing journey as a series of individual steps 🙂
I practice mindfulness in different ways, as for instance:
- Meditation: doing a meditation session allows me several times to feel grounded and connected with myself. When I meditate I practice deep breathing exercises like the 4-7-8 breathing technique and I repeate to myself a mantra, in this way I am more concentrated and calm❤️😊
- Drinking tea: winding down with a good cup of tea, feeling the scent of the tea and savouring it sip by sip is for me another good way “to stop” and feel mindful.
- Cooking something: I have recently discovered that cooking is a sort of therapy for me 🙂 It’s another mindful activity which helps me to stay calm and focused. Moreover, when I prepare something I also feel satisfied and proud of myself 🙂
Always remember that no matter how tough life can become there is always a light within you guiding you and protecting you❤️❤️✨
Much Love and Light❤️✨
Sofia Lena 😊
