The beauty of being unique! :) ❤️

Hello guys!😊

In this motivational, feel good post I talk about the beauty of being unique, something we all should truly embrace❤️✨😊

Trigger warning: this article discusses topics that might be challenging for you, especially if you struggle with mental-health problems or you are in a rough patch. However, it also contains motivational and inspiring messages, content, designed to offer you hope and support. The decision to keep on reading is entirely yours and to no one else!❤️❤️

We are all different❤️

We are all different, and thank goodness for that! 🙂 How boring would it have been if everyone was the same, with the same backgrounds, identities..

We are all shaped differently with unique DNAs, personalities, life paths, qualities, struggles…

We should not compare ourselves to others and instead honour our own being❤️

The struggle to accept one’s uniqueness is common, and it was a significant challenge for me too.

A bit of my story❤️

I have struggled a lot with my own identity, like who am I? And what am I doing on this earth? Depression and anxiety have also played a vital role when it came to embracing my own uniqueness.

From a young age, my shyness was a source of deep shame, particularly as I grew older. The constant remarks from classmates and even teachers or professors made me want to vanish. I really thought that being shy was a bad thing (which is not, I have learned through time).

Another factor that made me feel very different from everyone else, especially in school, was that I am bilingual. School was a source of discomfort for me; I often felt like an outsider. My Swedish identity was more prominent, making it hard to connect with the Italian school environment, even as a half-Italian.

Some challenging episodes…

We Swedes have traditions as every other culture. We adore baking and eating spiced biscuits. One December, at primary school (I was probably seven years old) before going to vacation, my mom encouraged me to bring cinnamon biscuits at school.

When I offered my Swedish cinnamon cookies to my classmates, I overheard one whisper to another, ‘These biscuits are awful, but don’t tell her.’ It was not a pleasant moment to hear that.

Bullied in high school for my English, for my Italian…

I have always loved English, in fact it has always been my favourite language 🙂 Because I’m bilingual, my accent might sound different from those who only speak one language.

In high school, some classmates would ironically imitate my accent and mock it.

Just at the end of high-school, a professor made me feel pretty awful

It was still covid period, so who wanted was allowed to follow lessons online. I was one of them. While I heard one of the professors speaking, she suddenly told to the entire classroom and also to some other professors attending: “Oh, you are not like Perissinotto (me) who can not speak Italian. She noticed me then, but it was already too late; the harm had been done. What was even more immature of her, was that she did not gain enough courage to apologize.

All those moments I have shared with you were really challenging for me but through time, also with the help of my therapist, loved ones, I am learning to let go of those trying times and see the beauty in the struggle.

In fact, now or not so long time ago I am really starting to EMBRACE MY OWN UNIQUENESS as it is.

Embracing your own, true uniqueness❤️

Each and everyone of us on this earth has the gift of being unique and special on its own way. For example, being bilingual is for me a strength; even though I struggled with several subjects at school, I learned English more quickly 🙂 Another example: being shy is not a weakness. I am, for instance, a better listener 🙂

Embracing your uniqueness can sometimes be difficult but know that you are special in some way or another 🙂 If you struggle with low self-esteem and not feel worthy, seek professional support, you are worthy to receive help❤️always.

Embracing your true nature can take time and commitment but do not give up! Keep moving forward, continue to learn about yourself, and treat yourself with kindness and patience. Uncovering your unique talents and new aspects of yourself takes time and effort, but never stop seeking, never stop trying.

Self-acceptance❤️

Self-acceptance is another important key to start celebrating yourself 🙂

Write down, each day, powerful affirmations like: I am uniquely beautiful in my own way, I am special and I love who I am becoming, I am different from everyone else and that is a gift!

Many times, self-acceptance is a journey. Trust that with time, also with external help, things will get better, do not loose hope, keep fighting, keep learning, you got this! 🙂

You are unique, you count, you are beautiful, you are light, You are limitless, with infinite resources, always keep that in mind! 🙂 ❤️
