The mind and body: a single entity

Hey everyone :)!😊❤️

In this feel good blog post, I discuss the connection between the mind and the body when it comes to mental wellbeing, sharing some of my life stories related to this topic followed by motivational insights ❤️

Trigger warning: this article contains also challenging parts. If you struggle with your own mental-health, you are going through a rough patch, feel free to stop reading now. However, this blog post has also motivational, inspiring content. The decision to keep reading is entirely yours!❤️❤️

The mind and the body are always connected especially when it comes to one’s mental-health.

How are the body and mind connected?

Have you ever asked yourself: “Why am I getting so many headaches in a small period of time?” “Why am I always so tired?” “Why do I always get sick every single month?”

When your mind is tired, when you’re feeling depressed… your mind communicates with your body, manifesting in physical symptoms like exhaustion, numbness, difficulty breathing, and more.

Have you ever wondered where those tingling sensations come from in your body? Why you are sweating more than usual, why you feel the urge to always go to the toilet every minute of the day? That’s because your body and mind are trying to tell you something.

When something is wrong, your body or your mind automatically ‘tries to reach out for help’ in some way or another.

Mind-body connection

Your mind and body are in constant conversation, deeply affecting each other.

This deep link, known as the mind-body connection, isn’t just a theory, it’s supported by scientific evidence. It proves how our thoughts, feelings, and actions directly affect our physical health, and our physical state can, in turn, shape our mental wellbeing.

Your brain, serving as your body’s control room, constantly sends messages to your body via your nervous system, hormones, and neurotransmitters. These signals impact a wide range of functions, including your heart’s rhythm, your immune system’s activity, how you digest your food, and even your emotional state.

So, after reading the paragraphs just above, the mind and the body share a truly powerful connection, it’s like they have a daily powerful conversation with each other 🙂

Sharing a bit of my story…❤️

In the last couple of years, I myself have realised how much my body and my mind affect one another.

Raw, honest storytelling…

When I was younger, like at 15 years old, I had no real clue how deeply your emotional state could affect your body. At this age, I was extremely sad and not well at all. I suffered from being bullied at school and I struggled a lot academically, plus I felt not good enough, not smart enough, not beautiful. I was also dealing with acne.

At school, each single day there, from the beginning of the year until the end of it, I went to the toilet a lot, I felt I needed to go there each minute, plus I also began sweating. I felt horrible, moreover classmates would make fun of me because I went so much to the rest room. Even an educatur dared to say to me: “Sofia, is the toilet your home now?”

Trying to undestand the problem…

I was truly desperate, first we thought it was a sort of an urinary infection creating this ‘disaster’, I took something which the doctor gave me but it didn’t help.

It was all severe emotional distress…

At the end of the year, as I was really getting down emotionally my parents contacted a neuropsychiatrist. It showed up that this physical symptom was only emotional. I was mentally suffering, my body responded.

I am so grateful the antidepressants helped me to calm myself down and not run to the toilet each hour.

Listen to your mind and body❤️

Each and everyone of us experience physical, emotional symptoms, who more, who less. If you feel constantly irritated or tired for example, try to listen more to your mind and body.

If you find it hard to digest food for instance, it could be a signal to stress and anxiety.

I would highly recommend you to contact professionals in the areas and talk to a professional therapist also, if you struggle emotionally.

I like to practice yoga, meditions a lot 🙂 and also for a good reason! Whenever I feel tired in my entire body and mind, I practice a meditation. Several times after practising, doing also deep breathing exercises, and repeating to myself uplifting mantras in the meantime, I feel more energized and better❤️

The importance of finding ways to understand better your entire self 🙂

Knowing yourself and bettering yourself so you can feel better both emotionally and physically is an ongoing, dynamic process.❤️

I am learning all the time, depending on how my body and mind feel❤️It’s important to find ways to manage or even overcome emotional, physical symtoms in one way or another. Do not get discouraged if it takes time for you to discover options for your wellbeing, keep trying and learning. Connecting with nature, being surrounded by nature, practising mindfulness could be a good start! At least that has been my case 🙂 ❤️

You are one, not split 🙂 Take extra care of yourself! ❤️

Much Love and Light❤️✨
