Finding Beauty In The Struggle

Hello everyone!😊

In this feel-good, mental-health article, I discuss finding beauty in hard times, share some of my own stories, and offer some motivational insights along the way!❤️

Trigger warning: if you also struggle on your own, this blog post might be difficult for you to read. However, it also contains motivational content that could help you on your journey. The decision to keep reading is entirely yours!❤️❤️

Sometimes life gives you a curveball, and it can become really tough to see the beauty in things, and to move forward—it’s as if you were trapped in a cage and didn’t know how to come out of it.

I know this feeling all too well as I myself have felt trapped in many periods of my life.

Struggling to find purpose in my life

Sharing a bit of my story…

There have been so many times in my life, when I didn’t know what I was doing. As someone who has practically struggled with depression and anxiety my entire life, I started to put myself down from a very young age.

As I got older, things didn’t get better, and my entire life fell apart when I stopped modeling with agencies. I went into a serious depression. I had a really negative mind; and I thought I was going to be trapped forever.

Slowly seeing the light in things

From a place of complete darkness, emptiness and hopelessness, I started very slowly to see things from a different perspective. Besides a change in medication and external help, I began to shift my life through the daily practice of mindfulness.

In fact, mindfulness has been one of the foundational practices of my recovery journey.

I started with small changes. From lying down in bed and feeling miserable, I began watching Bridgerton, which soon became my favourite feel-good series. I noticed the characters drinking tea and I decided to do the same. This simple act led me to discover my love for tea, which I then made an important ritual 🙂

Whenever I was feeling out of breath, meditations, breathing exercises led me to a calmer place. I started with ten minutes of breathwork, for example, and I did my best to focus on the task, rather than paying attention to my monkey mind.

I discovered that writing gave me comfort in moments of distress. Writing also later became my work, which I truly love. In fact, many times when I feel sad or overwhelmed creating articles also helps me find inner harmony once again.❤️

Beauty in the simplicity

Many people believe they will feel better if they buy an expensive handbag or watch, for example. While there is nothing wrong with that, you can not rely solely on big things to happen in order to overcome a struggle.

There is also so much beauty in the simplicity 🙂

A few months ago, I was again really down and saw most things in black. Mom and I took a short trip to a stunning tulip field nearby. After walking for a while, getting some light therapy, and taking in all the beautiful colours around me, I slowly started to feel better. Even though I was still not very active, this excurtion made my day :)❤️

Motivational Insights and Practical Tips

I really understand how difficult it can be to keep going, be positive when you are struggling. But please know that help is available, no matter how tough your situation is.

Instead of lying in bed all day, for example, try to find something that brings you joy and comfort. Remember, it doesn’t have to be something big.❤️For example, watch a show that makes you smile, or grab your favourite mug and make a nice cup of tea or coffee. You could also create a comfortable environment with good, beautiful, calming vibes.❤️

If you are struggling somewhere else, like on vacation, ask a loved one to give you a hug, or simply listen while you talk about your feelings, whatever they are. Having someone who stands by your side no matter what is beautiful thing.❤️

Finding beauty, even in the darkest of times, is a challenge but at the same time it’s a reward! :)❤️

Much Love and Light❤️✨
