Hey everyone! 😊 It’s time to discuss a very important subject, that we all should hold on to tightly in life: hope.❤️
Trigger Warning: if you are struggling with mental health, this article might be difficult to read. However, it also offers motivational insights along the way. The decision to keep reading is entirely yours and no one else’s!❤️❤️
Please, also know this is a safe space❤️
Now, let’s begin!
The Meaning of Hope❤️
First of all, what does hope mean, especially when we talk about mental health? Hope in the context of mental health is much more than just a wish or a positive feeling. It’s an ongoing process of internal resilience. It helps us endure hardships, handle tough times, and hope for a better future ahead.
You don’t have to hope for big things…
Hope is crucial because it helps you set goals (even small, daily ones) and make progress toward achieving them, no matter how long it takes. It’s a beautiful belief that you have the strength and capacity to take those steps forward.
Seeing Beyond the Obstacle
What I’m about to say now is also truly important: just because one path didn’t suit you, that doesn’t mean you have to give up. If one route is blocked, there is another that can be found.❤️
Also used as a coping mechanism…
We can also say that hope is a good strategy to cope with the difficulties, and uncertainties of life. It’s a healthy way to allow people to battle their demons, to find a safe space through also the help of professionals and loved ones as well.
Your Compass for the Future
Even though I’m a big fan of Mindfulness(😉), hope can be helpful regarding the future. It can allow a person to envision a better future, giving them the motivation to keep going and pushing forward.
With that said, we are all different. There are those who prefer being anchored to the present moment, and others who find comfort in believing in a brighter future.
Hope, even in the darkest of moments
Hope exists even in the darkest of moments. I know it because I’ve been there myself several times, and am currently in a really tough situation that makes me doubt myself a lot, but I’m still here fighting, and that is nothing to take for granted.❤️
Remember: hope is within you, even if you are depressed, going through a bad period of your life journey, or for many other reasons. Never ever give up on hope, even if you don’t yet believe that there is light in you.✨
When you suffer deeply, emotionally or physically (or both), you feel like there is no way out of the situation you find yourself in—which is a normal feeling experienced by many people. I would recommend you that you start seeing things step by step. Even if it is a small step, praise yourself and give yourself a big hug for your resilience.❤️
Sharing a bit of my story…❤️
I’ve been struggling with depression and anxiety for quite a while now and there have been many times where I just wanted to give up.
Sharing raw, honest facts
I remember I began feeling truly hopeless at the age of 15 when everything began falling apart. I was heavily bullied in school at the time. My parents didn’t believe I was bullied, given that I’ve always been a shy, kind person. They thought it was quite impossible that a girl like me was an easy target for my peers, or that they would laugh at me for things that felt so embarrassing. I felt truly humiliated, especially because I frequented a small school and everyone, even most of the professors, knew.
Even my previous psychologist didn’t understand me at all. So, I truly began to lose hope bit by bit, started seeing much darkness, and cried a lot.
Sharing a raw, honest episode
It was late evening. I had already eaten dinner, and it was time for bed; a new school day was waiting for me. I started to panic, and a wave of sadness overwhelmed me, bringing lots of tears. I went to one of the bathrooms, sat on the toilet bowl, and told myself: “It’s over, I don’t want to exist anymore, I’m just a burden to my family.”
Finding strength in the darkness
Even though I was deeply emotionally hurt and depressed, I had a dream—a really beautiful one at the time, becoming a professional model (😊). This desire became stronger and stronger with time, giving me the strength to keep pushing forward no matter the many challenges I was facing.
Hope is already there for you…
Hope is already there for you; even if you still can’t embrace it, make it yours. It’s there by your side, like a constant companion (😊), even if you fall apart many times. It’s there fighting with you. No matter what you’re going through, no matter how much darkness is in the air, making you see everything foggy, hope will always be there fighting for you.
Never be afraid to ask for help
I know it can be truly hard to take this step—asking for help—because I also sometimes struggle with speaking up. But believe me: every time you seek help, you take a step forward and you are so courageous for that.❤️
When you seek professional help, you can slowly work on yourself as well to find that confidence that has been completely lost.
Hope will always accompany you in life even when things go completely wrong. You are a hopeful star just like hope itself! :)❤️
Much Love and Light ❤️✨
Sofia Lena 😊
