Inhale slowly, deeply, and with awareness. Plant your feet firmly on the ground. Remind yourself—more than once—that everything is going to be ok. Just keep breathing. If you want, place a hand on your chest for reassurance; you’re safe. ❤️
Many times, we forget to stop and breathe thoroughly when things get out of hand. We push forward until we’re on edge: exhausted, confused and too overwhelmed to understand what someone else is trying to tell us. It becomes the straw that breaks the camel’s back—the limit of your patience—because you’re always on the move, never pausing to take a breath in between.
The Role of Mindfulness in Daily Life
While the goal is to find peace of mind and inner stability in the present moment, external circumstances make it more difficult to reach quietness in a world that never stops.
It’s a challenge to stay focused in the here and now, yet it is possible with practice, willpower, discipline, and even with the help of wellness coaches who can help us plant the seeds of a steadier life. Let’s not forget that mindfulness is one of the core pillars of overall wellness and mental wellbeing! In fact, I believe that mindfulness is crucial to navigating our chaotic daily lives.
In a few words, mindfulness can play a vital role in your life by helping you slow down, reconnect with yourself in the present moment, become more aware of your current circumstances and thoughts, appreciate the little things life gifts us, and stay more in tune with your mind, body, and soul. In fact, you can live a more meaningful life with the help of mindfulness!
Root Yourself: Finding Stillness When It’s Needed Most
It’s hard to slow down when you feel sad, angry, or irritated. I know this all too well; in fact many times I end up crying and feeling worthless. Even so, with the help of my loved ones and professionals who remind me in times of crisis to stay present, I’m learning to be more mindful and grounded within my own being.
Some Concrete Action Steps…
It’s about recognizing in time that a storm is coming; Whenever you are in an uncomfortable environment or at home, for example, the first step is to breathe deeply Gently move your body if you like: walk around a room with your head held high, stretch your arms as if they were reaching toward the sky, and remember to plant your feet firmly on the floor. Alternatively, you can sit in a chair, root your feet to the ground, and breathe in and out—closing your eyes if it feels right.
It’s okay if you need to cry it out; do it if necessary, but don’t remain stuck. With the help of loved ones, try to find a gentle distraction while you calm down and become aware of the present moment. ❤️
