My Modeling Story With Agencies (Part 4)

Hey there! The time has finally come to conclude my modeling journey with agencies with one last article! Before we dive into the final chapter, you can catch up on the story so far by checking out the first three parts linked below!

The Story So Far…

In my last update, I walked you through leaving my first booking agency for good and the growth that followed. I touched on some vital lessons—such as the importance of open communication between a booker and a model, and the significance of not being afraid to ask if anything is going wrong. If you haven’t read it yet, you can check out my article right above!

Hunting For A New Agency

Even though I didn’t succeed with that agency, I left with more experience and a full book of photos. I felt stronger and bolder, feeling my inner lion waking up. 🙂 There were still many agencies I hadn’t contacted yet, so I had a glimmer of hope that eventually, one of them would like me.

The Hurdles…

Even with a positive mindset and a beautiful portfolio, the path turned out to be muddy and complicated. However, the many “noes” I received didn’t hold me back. Yes, I was disappointed and discouraged after a while, but I did not let it become my “final curtain call.” Moreover, my mental health was beginning to grow weak with time, but I carried on until I found the agency—which was a true blessing. Hard work had finally paid off. 🙂

My Second and Last Booking Agency

I felt quite nervous entering the agency, although my worries began to disappear when I was greeted by one of the bookers. Once everyone gathered, I introduced myself and showed my portfolio. They asked me to walk and I was glad they were honest about how I needed to improve. Their feedback was positive and they wanted me straight away, but they told me to get fitter for fashion shows. As a result, I didn’t return until about three months later, although I kept them posted on my progress in the gym.

Struggling With My Body…

Even though I was so excited by the interest from the new agency, I started to lose my confidence bit by bit. I couldn’t see any particular improvements from my daily training in the gym or at home.

At first, I had so much energy and a willingness to train, envisioning myself getting fitter and walking on a runway. But as time went by, I began doubting myself a lot; my mental health was declining, and by the time I had to return to the agency, I was fearful they wouldn’t accept me, because I couldn’t see the results myself.

From Nothing to More Than I Had Expected

I was super nervous as I didn’t know whether they would sign me or not. My heart was racing as I entered the agency, expecting the worst; instead, I proved myself wrong! I started going to castings almost immediately, shooting with some new photographer to update my portfolio, and I even got a job in less than a week with them! It was truly unexpected. 🙂

The Power of Good Communication…

Unlike my previous agency, this one proved to be very professional. They called me, sent emails, and we talked about how to improve my image; they even advised me on what to wear to castings. In a few words: they knew their job well.

Even though my contract didn’t last long, I learned that you don’t need just a good portfolio; your agency plays a vital role in supporting you, helping you, and giving you the right advice and motivation to keep going.

A Final Bow

Because of my struggling mental health, I eventually stopped modeling. My depression had worsened and I no longer had the energy to keep up with the agency; it simply felt like too much. Looking back, I’m glad I dived into this world with such courage and determination. It was truly a unique experience.

Finding Light in New Passions

Once I stopped, I was so scared I wouldn’t find any new, uplifting passions; instead, I was wrong again! I began blogging almost a year later, and I haven’t stopped since! If you are also searching for a new passion, don’t worry—it will come around. Keep trying, and who knows? You might be closer than you think to something you haven’t even discovered yet. 🙂
