I Didn’t Ask For This: Finding Your Way Forward Anyway
a quick note: if you’re currently struggling with your mental health, some parts of this article might be difficult to read. However, it also offers motivational insights and tools to help you navigate those challenges. The decision to keep on reading is entirely yours and no one else’s! ❤️❤️

It’s not fair that you have to suffer when you didn’t even ask for this to happen. It can range from a mental or physical illness to financial bankruptcy, or perhaps losing your job. Discovering you have an undiagnosed condition can leave you feeling emotionally unstable; you might not want the help you need—not because the help is ‘strange,’ but simply because the weight of carrying it all forward feels like too much.

Not In My Plan

Many of us have a mental map where we imagine our dreams coming into reality. It’s a sort of manifestation; we manifest the upcoming year, perhaps challenging ourselves to become a better version of ourselves and planning for the future. Then, suddenly, something goes wrong. Our plans are torn up, leaving us with a painful feeling of not having the slightest idea how to move forward.

A Glimpse of My Journey…❤️

I spent at least three years being excited about becoming a professional model, visualizing myself at photoshoots wearing stunning clothing and ‘playing with the camera.’ I also worked hard to stand and walk in high heels mostly on my own, imagining myself on runways. A happy dream that made me feel fearless.

The Reason I Stopped…

When my dreams were about to come true, my depression symptoms started to reappear, and at a certain point, I fell apart. I began to feel hopeless again; I stopped modeling because I didn’t feel the spark for that job anymore—just emptiness. This had not been my plan; depression had crushed me once again, and I simply had no energy left to continue.

The strength to Begin a New Path

Since I had no motivation or energy left, I had to slowly take charge of my life by focusing on self-care while I was deeply depressed. After almost a year, I started to design a new journey: blogging, and creating content on social media! 🙂 This didn’t happen overnight; on the contrary, it took a long time and many small steps—which is exactly how I still move today. I am continuing to learn from this new path alongside my ongoing healing journey. ❤️

The Power in You

If you’re reading this and feeling like your mental map failed to guide you toward your primary goals because of a difficult period—and you’re still having a hard time figuring out your next steps—it’s okay. Slow down and take a deep breath. It’s probably not your fault. Take the time you need to figure things out. Know that you have the power to turn things around, no matter how long it might take. Focus on small steps rather than on the whole staircase in front of you. It’s crucial to keep in mind that your resilience is still here, even during the bad days, weeks, or months of your life. ❤️

The Beauty of the ‘Crossed’ Path

It’s reasonable to find it unfair and difficult to acknowledge that your path has been ‘crossed’ by a painful circumstance; still, there is hope for an even better journey. As you ‘reinvent’ yourself, you may discover parts of yourself you didn’t know before—talents and qualities you would have never dreamed of having if you had continued pursuing your previous path.

Tools Helping You Stay ‘On Track’

It’s important, in my opinion, to have tools that can help you when you’re in need of them. They do not have to be ‘big tools’; small daily practices are more than enough for navigating your way forward. I have small, feel-good rituals that keep me steady, especially when I’m not okay.

  • External Help: First of all, consider getting professional help, especially if it’s too much to handle on your own. Please don’t feel guilty for asking for help—you have the right to it.
  • The Practice of Mindfulness: Mindfulness was one of my first tools when I was diagnosed with depression a couple of years ago. It reminds me to stay grounded, be present, and breathe deeply. If you’re new to mindfulness, I would recommend reading my articles on the topic and discussing it with a professional if it feels right for you; for me, it’s incredibly useful.
  • Hobbies: Your hobbies can guide you too to a better place, too! 🙂 If you don’t have any in particular, try different things and get creative! Leisure time has a wonderful way of clearing your head from the confusion of the day, for example, and it can help you stay motivated to continue pursuing your journey. ❤️

“I am resilient; I pursue a new path while better discovering myself.”

Much Love and Light ❤️✨
