In-Between

In-Between

We have all been there—and I guess we still are, more or less, in our own unique journeys. It’s an ongoing process; there is always an ‘in-between’ in everyone’s life. However, while some people easily transition from who they were to who they want to be, for others, it requires a longer period of time. That is perfectly okay; we are all different, with different backgrounds. Moreover, how can we expect to rush the process if we don’t know yet who we want to be in the future? With that said, let’s dive into this topic. 🙂

The Meaning of In-Between

What does it actually mean to be in-between? Think of a threshold: it’s that space where you’ve just left one room but haven’t quite reached the entrance to the next chamber. You have successfully managed to move beyond a difficult time, and now you’re trying to figure out how to become the next version of yourself—someone you are eager to achieve, but still have no idea how to do that. That’s the in-between; the gap between the ‘older version of yourself’ and a ‘fresher one.’ 🙂

The Struggles of the Threshold

While the threshold is a place for new opportunities and a fresh start, the ‘entrance’ is often when many get overwhelmed, as they do not know exactly how to proceed anymore; it’s like there is no map to continue the journey forward. Many people may feel they have messed up and regret having, for example, left their previous job. Fear also plays a central role in making things harder when you step into this space in-between. You might feel lonely, as others may have more concrete plans than you, giving you the impression you’re, in a way, ‘late.’

Sharing Bits of My Story…❤️

This theme wouldn’t have popped into my head if I haden’t felt the weight of the threshold myself. When I stopped modeling a couple of years ago, I was terrified to begin something new. I didn’t think I would be able to find a path that made me feel good or like a part of something; I felt truly stuck, a feeling that was also fueled by my severe depression.

What I was mostly afraid of was the future, which made me feel truly hopeless. However, when I came into contact with mindfulness, things began to change slowly. I started to take it day by day, and with time, I also began finding my own path.

Growth Happens In-Between

You may not see it straightaway, but real growth happens in-between—when you’re taking courageous steps forward without knowing the actual outcome. It’s not just about when you’ve finished writing your story, which, by the way, is constantly evolving. The reward comes when you reach a destination; however, being in the middle of a journey is where you get to discover more parts of yourself.

All the small steps in-between are all important and are signs of inner growth; don’t take even the tiniest of step for granted. Every stumble, fall, rise, success, and discovery is part of your journey and prepares you for your next season! You can’t grow without the in-between. 🙂

Don’t Rush The In-Between ❤️

I understand the excitement of reaching a destination; however, it’s also important not to rush, as there are important lessons to take into consideration when you’re in the in-between.

Take your time to fully honour your achievements, learn from your mistakes, and be mindful while you learn something new along the way. Make sure to pat yourself on the back whenever needed. You deserve to pause, acknowledge everything you’ve done so far, and be proud of yourself.

“As I explore what works for me, I honour my courage in the in-between!” 🙂
