My three favourite cafes in Stockholm (first part)

Hi guys! In this article I tell you about some of my favourite cafes in Stockholm! 🙂

Swedish Fika

Before diving into the cafes, I thought it was really important to write about this tradition that we Swedes have, called fika which means taking a coffee/tea break from work or something else and enjoy a sweet treat or a salty snack with your beverage while catching up (most of the times) with someone else! So it’s a way of socializing besides from enjoying drinking your cup of tea (for ex.)!

Stockolm, the café city! 🙂

In many corners of this lovely city, you can find lot of good cafes, with their own unique and inviting atmosphere. Whether you’re seeking a quiet place to work or simply a spot to relax, Stockholm’s cafes have something to offer to everyone.

Let’s explore some of the city’s most charming cafes 🙂 !
  • Rosendal Café

The first stop is Rosendal café, located in the bio dinamic garden rosendal on the island of Djurgården. I love this place so much especially in spring/summer times because you can stay outside, in its lovely garden 🙂 Rosendal has undergone some renovations since the fire, and I really love the results! 😍

Rosendal’s garden café offers fresh vegetables, fruits directly from their garden. The bread, pastries are made in their own bakery.

They have also a shop where you can find and buy different teas, herbs, biscuits, and much more!

When I go to Rosendal café I almost always take its delicious hummos with veggies and its home-baked sourdough bread. I like a lot, that there are many vegetarian food options.

Afterwards, I enjoy a lot taking tea with a sweet.

Rosendal café’s carrot cake is one of the highlights, my mom loves it, she always takes it when she’s there 🙂 I love their delicious cardamom buns!

  • Grillska Huset

Another café, which I love going to, is Grillska Huset, (café). This cozy café is situated in the Old Town of Stockholm (Gamla Stan). This charming old building takes his name from the Grill family who bought the place in 1861. Since 2022, the restaurant, bakery, café have been run by Grillska Huset Restaurang and Konditori (restaurant and patisserie).

The food is made from scratch, using good ingredients! Culinary craftsmanship is fundamental in their kitchen where they use preferably organic, locally sourced products!

There is a nice, cozy atmosphere in here! 🙂 from its historic 17-century beamed ceiling, to its old, fashionable furniture! I adore taking tea with their delicious cardamom buns, here! 🙂

You can also sit outdoors if you want! There is a courtyard terrace which is surrounded by stunning architectural structures!

  • Nk Art Bakery (Café)

Then we have Nk Art Bakery café located in Stockholm city center, more specifically within the Nordiska Kompaniet (NK) department (at Regeringsgatan 47).

This café is known for its variety of desserts from mousses to Swedish cinnamon buns!

They have besides from sweets also salty things like yoghurts, avocado sandwiches and other healthy goodies! They sell also really good bread.

When I happen to be here or plan before 😉 I now, almost always take their refreshing green juice accompanied with something sweet or savoury, it depends 🙂

I’ll write more about Stockholm cafes, further on 😉

See you! 🙂
