Hey guys! In this blog post I wil write about the stunning city of Bath! 😍
I spent a day with my family, (in the middle of July), walking around this marvellous historic city! 🙂
Introduction
Bath is one of the most elegant cities in England, located in the county of Somerset, in the South West region of England. In the past some tribes lived there, before Romans came and significantly expanded and developed the settlement around the natural hot springs which were used by them as a thermal spa.

The city was built with local limestone, a honey coloured stone which gives the buildings of Bath their distinguishing appearance! This gorgeous city is well-known mostly for its Roman Baths!
Bath, a Unesco World Heritage!

The city was nominated twice as a Unesco World Heritage Site, more specifically, in 1987 and in 2021.
Bath’s iconic architecture is one of the many reasons why the city has been designated as a Unesco World Heritage Site!
- In 1987 it was included for its Hot Springs, Roman archeology, Georgian architectural buildings (like the Pulteney bridge built in 1770) and natural landscape setting.
- In 2021 it was inscribed, as one of the Great Spa Towns in Europe – Spa Towns placed around natural springs which are used for wellbeing, health.
Here are some things to see and visit! 🙂
- The Roman Baths
Seeing live, the Roman Baths, was really fascinating for me! They are located in the centre of the city, next to Bath Abbey!
The Roman Baths are a remarkable testament to the grandeur of Roman Civilization and is one of the most well-preserved examples of Roman architecture in the world.

Constructed around 70AD, it was used by the Romans as a grand bathing and socializing complex. The baths were in use by the Romans for over 300 years, before the Anglo-Saxons took over.
The Sacred Spring is the source of the healing waters which has been worshipped for centuries. The water which still flows today, was believed to have curative powers.
There is also a musem which houses a collections of artifacts including jewellery, coins and statues!
Whether you are a culture enthusiast, or you are simply looking for a memorable experience, the Roman Baths are a must-visit destination in Bath 🙂 !

- The Royal Crescent
The Royal Crescent is another amazing architectural landmark in Bath! It’s a crescent-shaped row of 30 terraced houses.
It was built between 1767 and 1774 to the designs of John Wood the Younger.
At the beginning it was known just as the Crescent, the street only gained its Royal recognition at the end of the eighteenth century after a visit from Prince Frederick.
In front of this impressive landmark, ther is a big meadow where people, nowadays, enjoy being.
- The Jane Austen Centre
If you are a tea lover, whether you are into a fancy afternoon tea or just a good cup of tea, you’ve got to check out The Jane Austen Centre! 😉
This centre is dedicated to the notorious writer Jane Austen, who lived during the Georgian Era. Her novels are set when she lived and wrote.
The Centre lies in a Georgian townhouse.

I really loved having a cream tea 😍 (an afternoon tea based on tea, scones, jam, clotted cream or butter!) in their tea room! 🙂
This place is a must-visit also, for anyone interested in Jane Austen’s work or the Regency Era!
- Bath Abbey
Another important building is Bath Abbey, situated in the heart of the vibrant city.
It’s a beautiful example of Gothic architecture and it has a rich history.
The constructions began in 1499 and was completed in 1616!
Bath Abbey began as an abbey, its history dates back to the 7th century when it was founded as a convent for women. Over the centuries, it has undergone several transformations including periods of Benedictine monastery and a Cathedral.
Today, it continues to be an important part of the city’s religious and cultural life!

Bath, the city of Bridgerton! 🙂
Many scenes of this amazing serie have been filmed in this city due to its stunning, historical eighteenth century architecture, the same period when Bridgerton is set!
I am so happy to have seen some filming locations, such as the home of Lady Danbury (as you can see in the first photo down-below) but they only used the exterior of it to film! The cobblestone square of Abbey Green is where the Modiste dress shop is located, (Sorry, I forgot to take photos!) another filming place is the Royal Crescent and so on! 🙂

If you happen to be in the surroundings of Bath or you are planning to take a trip to England, I would really recommend you to visit this lovely city! 🙂
See you in my next travel article! 🙂
