Have you ever felt as if someone was stepping on your feet because of a dream you had or still have? Have you felt like taking a step backward or completely giving up as no one is supporting you on your journey. They tell you it’s a bad idea to step out of your comfort zone and chase something “meaningless” just because they see it that way, persuading you to take the safer road—one with fewer obstacles and complications. If that’s the case, I’d like you to acknowledge that you have every right to pursue your dreams, no matter what others may think!
Be You, Not Them
It can become all too easy to get carried away by other people’s opinions. When a person doesn’t agree with you, they can do a lot to make you feel uneasy and uncomfortable with your own goals. Alternatively, they may say next to nothing about the topic and continue forward, still showing you their disagreement with your different plans. With that said, not everyone is this way; it’s about learning to find the right people who will cheer for you, no matter what!
Learning to be your true self around people while carrying a dream in your pocket can be pretty challenging, indeed. It’s normal to feel this way—uncertain of other people’s reactions or what they might truly think of you once they discover your desires for the future. Whatever they may say, especially if it’s negative, learn with time to hold your head high. Shake off the mean comments and scornful looks you receive, and think: “It’s my dream, not theirs! I will keep going and be myself, even when people don’t agree with me!”
Bits of My Story…
This topic would not have truly interested me if I hadn’t experienced it myself. At the young age of fifteen, I began being interested in the modeling world. Fortunately, my family was not opposed; they just didn’t know exactly how to support me, as it was a new world for all of them. People at school, on the contrary, were not so keen. Word spread without me even talking to many—just a few—and some professors were also not so kind.
Even now, I have to admit that the struggle continues: working on my blog and social media, some people I have encountered (or met for a brief talk) don’t see it as a job, but rather a hobby. If they only knew how many hours I spend writing, rewriting, editing, and coming up with ideas for new posts! It’s not as easy as many think.
You Got This!
No matter how many times I’ve been criticized over the years—especially for my modeling dream—I never let myself be pulled completely down. I’m still here fighting, doing my best to listen to my own intuition and what makes me happy in this journey of mine, and not allowing others to interfere and ruin what I’m creating. Same goes for you! Don’t let someone else take control of your life; you only have one life, and it is yours to make it best you can! ❤️
Setbacks and difficult moments are inevitable, and there will be times when you may feel like giving up and think it has been all for nothing. However, don’t let those thoughts be in the driver’s seat; let them be in the passenger’s seat. When they try to take control, take a deep breath and remember why you started. From time to time, also remember to look back on how far you’ve already come and be proud of yourself—of your discipline, hard work, and dedication. You got this, even when it feels difficult to believe! :)❤️
“I am the author of my destiny; I get to decide what makes me happy, not them!”
