Being Ok With Where You Are
A quick note: If you’re currently struggling with your mental health, please be aware that parts of this article are more difficult to read. However, I’ve also included motivational insights to help you on your journey. The decision to keep reading is entirely yours! ❤️❤️

It’s not always easy to accept where you are in this moment of your life. You may be struggling to manage the burden of a mental illness, to overcome some family issues, or perhaps to stay sober. There so many reasons you might feel unsettled with where you are right now; however, there is still light and hope to find in the present. Mastering the power to be ok with where you are in your journey is complicated, but it is not impossible. ❤️

Struggling to Accept

As I mentioned at the beginning, it’s not always that simple to accept your current circumstances, especially if they make you feel hurt, sad, or perhaps angry with yourself or others. Whatever burden you’re carrying within, it must not be easy; accepting it is even harder if it was not your choice from the start. It’s okay to be mad, sad, or disappointed—we’re human, after all—but do not let it dictate the course of your life.

I know it’s a struggle simply being in a situation that you would preferably not have found yourself in. It can break your heart to be in that position, just wishing for things to be different. I, too, find it really hard at times to accept the reality of my current condition.

Sharing Bits of My Story…❤️

As I mentioned just before, my present state is challenging and complicated. I would not have imagined that my depression could become so severe over the course of the last six months. Dealing with this mental illness daily is a challenge, and from time to time it leaves me feeling completely exhausted and on the edge of wanting to give up—not just because I feel it in my bones, but also because of the extreme fear of not being able to overcome it.

Choosing the Here and Now

That’s why I try not to look too far ahead and use my energy instead to focus on the present, doing the best I can to be okay with where I am and honouring my strength and resilience. As it doesn’t serve me at all to dwell on the past nor think about the future, I accept being in the here and now, taking baby steps forward, and appreciating what makes me feel good. ❤️

The Present: A Guide to Mental Clarity

Even though you might want to rush forward to feel better or find strategies to let go of that burden you’re carrying within, try first to find some peace in the present moment. Be aware of your current circumstances, and even if they are not the best, learn with time to accept what is difficult without letting it take control of your life.

Commit yourself to taking deep, mindful breaths, especially when you start to feel out of control. I would recommend that you use grounding and mindfulness as powerful sources of strength to come back to the here and now. Pay attention to the things that bring you joy and lightness in your daily life and embrace them. You don’t have to reach for the extraordinary to be okay with where you are; the smallest of things can turn out to be the most special ones. ❤️
