It’s okay if you are not feeling very confident right now or at any point in your life. Being insecure is simply part of the human experience. Some of us have a lot of insecurities to navigate, while others feel more comfortable in their own skin. That said, having more insecurities doesn’t mean you are less skilled or capable—on the contrary, insecure people often possess great potential—they just don’t know it yet. We all have our own unique strengths; no matter how small they might seem, they still count! You don’t need countless strengths to feel appreciated and worthy—one or two are more than enough, and you can always discover more along your journey. It’s crucial to remember this: just because you are struggling with your self-esteem doesn’t mean your strengths disappear, and vice versa. You are allowed to feel and carry both of them. ❤️
Valuing both Difficulties and Strengths
It can be all too easy to value our strengths and to hide what is difficult. It’s completely natural not to want to show our insecurities to others; it can be due to shame, uneasiness, or even guilt. So, we tend to conceal our weakest parts in the corners or in the depths of our being, letting our streghts shine through at the center.
You Are Not Alone in the Struggle
Being okay with what is uncomfortable and difficult is not easy at all. I also know it too well as a very insecure person—I always have been—and it can be hard to recognize my own strenghts sometimes. Grappling with depression makes it even harder to work on those insecurities, so whenever someone tells me, “brava!”, I still have a hard time to feel good about it.
Trying No Matter How It Unfolds
However, it’s worth trying to also value the insecurity behind those struggles. Even if you don’t feel good enough when you do hard things, the fact that you tried is already a big step forward. It’s okay if it gets difficult the next time, too. Don’t blame yourself for your insecurities—even though I know that’s much easier said than done. Just know that you are brave and resilient no matter how it goes. Maybe in a few years, you will be able to be more confident, or perhaps not—who knows? What we can do now is focus on taking one step at a time, especially when feeling overwhelmed, and let ourselves be guided by whatever comforting source we are drawn to.
Being Okay with Where You Are
Whether you are super insecure, comfortable in your own skin, or somewhere in between—think of it as your own personal healing journey. Comparison is not useful at all, as we are all unique with our own distinct stories. Giving yourself permission to stop, take a deep breath, and acknowledge where you are in life can help you to slow down. It allows you to see what you have achieved—even if it’s just tiny steps—and learn to be okay with where you are right now.
Closing Thoughts
It’s time to wrap up this article. No matter how long it might take for you to recognize your strengths, don’t give up—you have so much to give to the world, even if it feels scary right now. Try not to fight your insecurities; just allow them to exist as a part of you. There is no one on this earth without insecurities, even if it can sometimes feel that way. Having both strengths and insecurities is what makes us human and that is something to hold on to. ❤️
